My Little (Vintage) Corner of the Web

Welcome to my little corner of the web, which currently exists for the sole purpose of entertaining myself.  I can hardly dare hope that anything posted here might be of interest or help to someone else, but I hope you'll take a brief moment to stop and comment if that's the case.
I'm in the process of redoing my 1946 Cape Cod-style house into a somewhat more "vintage" flavor - though on a shoestring.  At the same time, I'm fond of sewing vintage styles, and the hair and beauty tips that go with them.  So expect to see them all turn up here as we go along.  For the moment, I'll try to get some "before and after" pictures up as the low-budget renovations continue.  And once I can get back INTO my sewing room, some vintage sewing.
Meanwhile, I happily troll local antique and thrift shops for vintage treasures to squirrel away.  If nothing else, I can share some of these with you, today.

First is a little trove of vintage patterns.  Some are childrens', some are ladies'.  I tend to pick up whatever I like, without regard to size.  It's not really that hard to grade a pattern up or down and custom fit it.  We'll maybe try that with the shorts pattern - as soon as I can find my machine.
I also picked up a little baggie of notions.  (One of the local antique malls has one stall that is devoted to vintage needlework.  I tend to just sit down on the floor in the middle of it and go through things to find the treasures.  Though I'd often like to take home the whole booth).

This time I ended up with some ric-rac in classic 50's shades, some bobbins, machine feet, a shuttle, and some pink sequins.  Now, the shuttle might or might not fit my treadle machine - I haven't tried it, yet.  The feet and the bobbins, certainly not.  But I do lust after a pink Atlas sewing machine, so I think I'll hang onto these little tidbits in the hopes that I can find one for a not-outrageous price and see if they'll fit THAT.  Crazy, no?  The sequins... I have no idea what I'm going to do with those.  I just like them.  ;-)

At any rate, check back here often and see what things go on in the Coastal Cottage over the summer.
